The Alarm Goes Off. It's Dark and Early. The Day Begins.
For Jacob Mason, mornings start before the sun comes up. As a full-time high school counselor, father two boys Miles and Beau, and husband to Amanda, Jacob's days don't have margins—they have missions.
And right now, his mission is representing educators at the 2025 CrossFit Everyday Hero Games as the Education Division Winner on the Educator Men's Team.
But this isn't just another competition. This is Jacob's chance to prove something he tells his students every single day: growth happens in discomfort.
What Are the CrossFit Everyday Hero Games?
The CrossFit Everyday Hero Games is a premier competition celebrating those who serve their communities in extraordinary ways. After an intense online qualifier called the "Service Cup," the top finishers across multiple service divisions—educators, first responders, military, healthcare workers, and more—earned their spot to compete live.
This year's event is being held at CrossFit Mayhem in Cookeville, Tennessee, presented by the Air National Guard Recruiting. It's one of the most prestigious venues in the CrossFit world, home to elite programming and world-class athletes.
Jacob will be competing alongside his teammate Will Carter on the Educator Men's Team, representing the teaching profession on one of functional fitness's biggest stages.
For Jacob, competing here represents the culmination of countless early mornings, late-night garage sessions, and the unwavering support of his family and community.
"This is without a doubt the coolest venue I've ever been to with the most elite competitors I've ever gone up against," Jacob shares. "It should be a ton of fun."
The Morning Routine: Balancing Faith, Family, and Fitness
Jacob's mornings start in one of two ways: diving into his Bible on good days, or struggling out of bed on the tough ones. Sound familiar? He's the first to admit he's human.
"On good days I dive into my Bible for a bit. On bad days I struggle like many to get out of bed, and the mornings become more rushed."
After a quick shower, he and Amanda tag-team getting Miles and Beau out of their cribs, bottles ready, and off to daycare. Then it's off to school—where his real work begins.
"I love helping kids every single day," Jacob shares. "Some days are more fun, and some days are heavy-hearted, tough conversations."
As a school counselor, Jacob became the person he wished he had growing up: someone who listens, leads, and helps others find direction through life's hardest moments. His students don’t just see a counselor— they see someone who shows up, listens, and leads with the same consistency he encourages in them.
Late-Night Training: How One Father Stays Competition-Ready

After picking up the boys from daycare, it's family time: dinner, playtime, and then Amanda takes over the bedtime routine (which, according to Jacob, she runs with precision and maybe a little bit of control 😆).
That's when Jacob heads to his garage gym around 6-6:30 PM for his late session.
"Most days my present self doesn't want to go train," he admits. "But I know tomorrow's self will thank me for doing it, so we do it. By the time I break a sweat, I usually change my mind and enjoy it from there on."
It's this mindset—do it anyway—that's carried him through the Education Division to qualify for the Everyday Hero Games. Training alone in a garage after a full day of work and family responsibilities isn't glamorous. But it's real. And it's exactly what makes Jacob's story so powerful.
And when Miles and Beau try to mimic some of the things Dad does in the gym? "It's a ton of fun," Jacob says. That's the real victory.
Finding the Right Fuel: A Counselor's Approach to Performance
Jacob's training isn't just about physical strength—it's about mental clarity, sustained energy, and showing up fully for the people who need him most.
That's where Happy Dude Supplements comes in.
His morning routine includes pulling some espresso and making a blender bottle of Hydro+ to take to school. Then, right before training, he takes Peak Performance to dial in and get ready for the work ahead.
"I sip on a serving of Hydro+ every single day and take the Peak Performance right before my training," Jacob explains.
The difference is undeniable:
"I can honestly say on the days I don't have those electrolytes and creatine from my Hydro+, my focus isn't there. I also 'bonk' or lose drive in the middle of a workout much more often on those days. Having those electrolytes hydrate me, prevent me from getting lightheaded, and I never cramp up in training anymore."

His favorite combo? Half scoop of Strawberry Sorbet and half scoop of Fresh Lemonade 😊😎
But for Jacob, Happy Dude Supplements is about more than performance.
More Than Supplements: A Brand That Walks the Walk
Jacob discovered Happy Dude Supplements through local friends in the fitness industry, then officially met founder Zac at a competition where he tried the products firsthand.
"I loved the taste first and foremost. I won a couple tubs of Hydro+ at that competition and got hooked on the performance benefit and just feeling better in daily life while using them consistently."
When Zac asked him to partner up, it felt like a perfect fit.
"I love the supplements, but I also LOVE the support and backing Zac and his wife put into Mental Health Support," Jacob shares. "They walk the walk and talk the talk. They donate to resources that support mental health and have built a community by hosting events along the way."
For someone who spends his days supporting students through their toughest moments, this alignment matters deeply.
"The world is a better place when we encourage people to Just Keep Going, keep their mental health at the forefront, and love others around them. I try to bring that message to my friends, family, and students every day. It's truly how Christ was."

Happy Dude Supps make me feel good and help me perform better as a professional, husband, and father. I don't know why anyone wouldn't want to supplement their life with a product that has no side effects and only benefits.
Movement is medicine. Fuel yourself with food and supplements that support that and you'll be a Happy Dude.
The Everyday Hero Games: Pushing Harder Than Ever Before
This weekend at CrossFit Mayhem, Jacob and the Educator Men's Team will face the most elite competitors in their division.
His goal? "To push myself harder than I ever have before."
But beyond the competition, Jacob's true motivation runs deeper. He trains so that down the road, he can play and compete with his sons—and one day, his grandchildren. He trains so his students see someone who lives out the discipline and resilience he teaches. He trains because his faith, his family, and his calling demand that he pour from a full cup.
Jacob is grounded by faith and anchored by his wife. He uses training as his outlet and reminder that service starts with strength from within. His goal is simple: lead his family well, grow in faith, and pour from a full cup.
